USE CASE
As technology is reshaping our world and training solutions at an unprecedented pace, being able to integrate data coming from different sources of Virtual Reality (VR) applications isn’t just innovative but it’s becoming essential.
The “Technical Approach to API Design for VR Applications and Customizations”, an initiative led by WiDiD, aims to ease accessibility and interoperability of VR data by developing a versatile and adaptable VR API that meets the unique needs of multiple use cases while maintaining the core structure that is essential for universal application.
The traditional approach often struggles to reconcile this flexibility with universal accessibility, resulting in solutions that are either not adaptable or too complex for general use. WiDiD’s vision tackles this challenge head on: by developing an API that not only offers extensive capabilities but is also inherently flexible, the project ensures that users can customize the API to their specific needs without compromising the core functionality and the interoperability. This approach uses the xAPI format, which has already been adopted and is compatible with many LRS (Learning Record Store).
The task of the use case is clear: to develop an API that can support a wide range of VR use cases while taking into account the unique features required by different VR companies. This includes:
As we move ahead, this initiative warmly invites educational institutions, corporate training departments, technology enthusiasts and investors to join us on this transformative journey. By supporting this use case, stakeholders have the opportunity to fundamentally change the future of VR education and its many applications. This goes beyond simply developing a robust API. The goal is to transform the use of VR technology across multiple sectors and ensure that it is both relevant and accessible to all users, providing a customized, high-quality VR experience that meets the evolving needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s workforce.
