Prometheus-X Consortium Meeting in Budapest

Two Days of Energy, Collaboration, and Future-Building

In May, Budapest became the beating heart of European innovation: the Prometheus-X consortium gathered in the Hungarian capital to work (further) together on a bold vision – building an open, trustworthy, and collaborative European data space for education, skills, and lifelong learning.

With more than 25 dedicated partner organizations from across Europe – including VISIONS, imc Learning, Cozy Cloud, University of Koblenz, France Digitale, MIMBUS, UbiCast, Loria, Schülerkarriere GmbH, Headai, EvidenceB, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and many more – the meeting was both an inspiring reunion and a powerful step forward.

Insights, Prototypes, and Collaboration in Action

The two-day consortium meeting in Budapest was packed with activity, insights, and real progress. From the outset, the atmosphere was driven by purpose and energy. We came together to reflect on the project’s development, align on upcoming milestones, and showcase tangible results. Across both days, we experienced an impressive range of demonstrations and exchanges—proof that Prometheus-X is moving from vision to reality.

We explored five data space products that are now ready for testing, spanning use cases such as skills matching, personalized learning, and VR-based education. These weren’t abstract concepts—they’re solutions ready to be used and evaluated by end clients. Building on that, over twenty additional prototypes were introduced, all made possible through our unique infrastructure and a growing network of more than 100 connected service offers.

Throughout the meeting, our partners showcased innovative components and use cases that brought key topics like trustworthy AI, data veracity, and edge computing into focus. We also explored the Prometheus-X infrastructure catalogue in depth, including thirteen new technical building blocks that support interoperability, anonymization, and enrichment of data. These were not just theoretical additions—they were put to the test through hands-on workshops that allowed participants to engage directly with service chains and explore how offers across data spaces can be connected seamlessly.

An especially valuable part of the program was the creative session on communication, where we worked together to refine how we share our story—with clearer messages, stronger narratives, and a sharper articulation of our mission around data sovereignty and lifelong learning. The result: stronger alignment, more impact, and a growing sense of shared purpose.

The combined effect of these sessions was a dynamic mix of strategic discussion and practical experimentation, held together by an atmosphere of mutual respect, bold thinking, and a determination to deliver results that matter.

A Strong Community with a Shared Purpose

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” – This African proverb perfectly captures the spirit of our meeting. Prometheus-X isn’t a solo effort. It’s a network of like-minded actors who believe that real change only happens through openness, sovereignty, and collaboration.

A huge thank you to the organizing team led by László Gönczy and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and to Matthias De Bièvre, Chloé Burel Féré, and Sylvia Faria for their excellent coordination, warm hospitality, and tireless drive.

The Bottom Line: Building the Future, Together

In just two days, we saw real progress – from PoC demos to strategic workshops and intense discussions on ethics, scalability, and technical interoperability. There was laughter, curiosity, challenge, and bold thinking.

The next phase for Prometheus-X is clear: continue co-developing concrete solutions, keep users at the center – and make the European skills data space a living reality.
