PT-X Unveiled Workshop: Service Chains for Data Sharing

Data Spaces: Powering integration of AI

On April 29, the Prometheus-X community gathered for the “PT-X Unveiled”- workshop which focused on service chains—automated, multi-step workflows designed to enable secure, efficient, and legally compliant data sharing across organizations. Participants explored how to build and manage service chains using Prometheus-X’s open-source tools, including a live demo of the VisionsTrust Catalogue. The session showed how service chains interconnect with the Prometheus-X Dataspace Connector, making real-world, multi-party data collaboration both scalable and compliant.

Prometheus-X President Matthias De Bièvre emphasized that while AI is advancing rapidly, integration across diverse data sources remains a major challenge. Data spaces – shared infrastructures with legal and technical standards – help solve this by enabling streamlined, compliant data exchange. Prometheus-X, co-funded by the EU and French government and supported by over 700 organizations, delivers reusable components such as connectors, catalogues, and consent managers. Its architecture supports interoperability with major standards like the Dataspace Protocol, the Gaia-X Framework and the Eclipse Dataspace Connector. A key innovation presented was the Service Chain – a workflow where data flows legally and technically across multiple services (e.g., anonymization, storage) under a shared contract. These chains support real-world AI use cases like personalized learning or privacy-preserving model training.

Felix Bole, CTO of VISIONS led a live tour of the VisionsTrust Catalogue, demonstrating how users can register, publish data offerings, and collaborate on shared projects. The Service Chain Editor allows users to visually design, configure, and activate workflows, making AI data integration seamless and compliant. The session highlighted how Prometheus-X simplifies complex data collaborations and accelerates trustworthy AI deployment.

László Gönczy, Development Lead of Prometheus-X, shared insights on the initiative’s modular architecture, which is built around open-source building blocks designed for secure, interoperable data sharing – especially in the skills and education sector. These components include core infrastructure, utility services, and advanced tools for decentralized data processing and AI evaluation.
