Open Education Reviews

Every voice matters. Every review counts.

Inokufu

Selecting the right learning objects, videos, courses, documents, or microlearning units, and designing courses can often feel like a solitary task. Reviews are scattered across multiple platforms, their pedagogical value is often uncertain, and educators are left without a reliable way to know what truly works. Open Education Reviews was created to solve this problem by developing a passionate community of teachers, trainers, and lifelong learners. It breaks this isolation and makes learning object discoverability easier, more collaborative, and more meaningful.

A “TripAdvisor” for learning objects

Like TripAdvisor helps travelers explore and share experiences, Open Education Reviews is a community that empowers teachers, trainers, and lifelong learners to:

  • Share reviews that help others choose the most relevant learning objects.
  • Discover learning objects that best fit their teaching and learning needs.
  • Gain recognition for contributing expertise and supporting peers.

By leveraging the collective intelligence of its community, Open Education Reviews enhances discoverability and transforms the search for learning resources into a collaborative exploration and co-construction of knowledge.

Empowering exploration

This initiative provides a dedicated website for sharing and discovering reviews of educational resources worldwide. It empowers educators as explorers and guides, enabling them to discover, evaluate, and elevate high-quality resources collaboratively.

This collaborative model ensures that teachers and trainers are no longer alone in the selection process. Instead, they benefit from the collective wisdom of a network of peers who share the same passion for teaching and learning.

High-quality review data for smarter AI Agents

By providing high-quality, community-validated reviews, Open Education Reviews becomes a powerful data source for AI Agents designed to enhance training experiences. These agents can leverage nuanced feedback from learners and trainers to improve the relevance of recommended learning resources and support didactic planning. For example, the Inokufu AI Training Agent integrated into the Totara LMS analyzes a learner’s quiz results to identify concepts that need reinforcement. It then suggests targeted videos, MOOCs, or learning objects, and thanks to Open Education Reviews, these recommendations can be refined using real user evaluations, ensuring that the selected resources are both pedagogically relevant and highly trusted.

Building the Community

Open Education Reviews is building a vibrant global community where educators, trainers, and learners help each other discover high-quality learning resources. Together, the community highlights impactful learning objects, improves metadata quality, and turns exploration into a collective, inspiring experience.

To support this ecosystem, we provide a set of tools:

  • openeducationreviews.org, where users can write reviews and explore community insights using thematic filters, learning-object categories, and reviewer profiles.
  • a Patreon community where members can access exclusive content and subscribe as Master Reviewers.
  • A YouTube channel (coming soon) featuring curated reviews of educational resources for professional training and secondary education.
  • A Chrome extension (coming soon) that allows users to review resources effortlessly as they browse.
